Despite being 35 years old and out of the NBA for two years, Isaiah Thomas remains resolute in his belief that he knows best when it comes to his basketball career. Over the weekend, Thomas, whose jersey hangs retired at the University of Washington’s Alaska Airlines Arena, signed a 10-day contract with the Phoenix Suns, as reported by various media outlets.
Thomas recently made a comeback in basketball by joining the Salt Lake City Stars in the G League, where he showcased impressive performance over four games, averaging 33 points per game and shooting 45 percent from beyond the arc. His determination to continue playing despite setbacks was evident when he expressed gratitude for the opportunity, emphasizing his belief in his remaining potential.
Standing at 5-foot-9, Thomas had a previous stint with the Suns during the 2014-15 season, appearing in 46 games predominantly as a reserve and averaging 15.1 points per game. Hailing from Tacoma, Washington, Thomas, a three-time All-Pac-10 selection during his UW career from 2009 to 2011, has had tenures with ten different NBA teams.

Thomas’s last full NBA season was in 2016-17, where he started 76 games, averaged 28.9 points per game, and earned an All-Star selection with the Boston Celtics before hip injuries disrupted his trajectory, leading to surgery and subsequent comebacks. With 550 NBA games under his belt, Thomas has accumulated 9,715 points over his 11-year career, soon to be 12.
