Goran Dragic, a former guard for the Chicago Bulls, has made the decision to retire from basketball after years of hard work.
Having played in 51 games with the Chicago Bulls over his 15-year NBA career, veteran guard Goran Dragic will finally hang up his sneakers. The man known as “The Dragon” will host a farewell game in the city of Ljubljana this August, according to a report published on the Slovenian website SiOL.net.
Brief Bull
In an attempt to stabilize a backcourt that was lacking star point guard Lonzo Ball due to a knee injury sustained in January 2022, Dragic inked a contract to play for the Bulls in August of that year. In 51 games that he eventually participated in, he averaged 6.4 points and 2.7 assists per 15 minutes of play. He was released by the Bulls in February 2023, and he played his final games for the Milwaukee Bucks, who were eliminated in the opening round of the NBA Playoffs.
Part of a famous Bulls highlight
Although Dragic had many career accomplishments—he was named to the All-NBA Third Team during the 2013–2014 season while playing for the Phoenix Suns—his most well-known claim to fame may have been his part in one of Derrick Rose’s most spectacular dunks.
The game occurred in January 2010 when the Suns hosted the Bulls. Dragic remembered the play like it happened yesterday.
“It was my second year in the league. First year, I did not play much. So my second year I started to play a little bit. So I had to go for that play,” Dragic shared.
“Of course, if I knew now, I would never go.”
