Each week, TMI’s Sam Webb, Steve Lorenz, and Brice Marich host a podcast titled ‘The Michigan Recruiting Insider.’ The podcast delves into Michigan football and basketball recruiting, providing exceptional insights and information on Wolverines’ targets and strategies. Sam, Steve, and Brice address the latest and most pressing topics in Michigan football recruiting.
In the latest episode, Sam, Steve, and Brice recap the highly successful Victor’s recruiting weekend and discuss the recent commitments from Jasper Parker, Jacob Washington, Kaden Strayhorn, Chase Taylor, and 2026 quarterback prospect, Brady Hart. The team also shifts focus to Crystal Ball predictions for top targets Hardy Watts, Andrew Olesh, Philip Wright, and Andrew Marsh, a top 50 wide receiver target.
In a transcript excerpt, the hosts discuss the latest developments in Andrew Marsh’s recruitment. Sam explains why he predicted the Texas star would choose the Wolverines.
Sam Webb: “(Marsh) is 6-1, about 175-180 pounds, has deep speed, tremendous hands, and is a really good route runner. Andrew Marsh checks all the boxes, and I think Michigan leads for him at this point.”
Brice Marich: “Other networks have also predicted Michigan will land him. None of us have done that yet, but Sam, you might be close. That’s what I’m hearing.”
Sam Webb: “Yes, that’s right.”
Brice Marich: “The toughest job on this staff among the assistant coaches is definitely Ron Bellamy’s, due to the perception that Michigan doesn’t throw the football. It’s ironic because players like Roman Wilson and Cornelius Johnson are moving on to the next level and getting drafted. They’re producing at Michigan, which Ron can sell. The offense is still run-focused, but with Kirk Campbell, they plan to air it out more. This is appealing to Marsh because it means one-on-one coverage opportunities for wideouts, leading to touchdowns. Marsh fits perfectly. When he canceled his Oklahoma visit to go to Michigan instead, I thought Michigan was in the driver’s seat.”
Steve Lorenz: “Some thought Oklahoma was leading, so canceling that visit for Michigan was significant. He’s visited Michigan multiple times. Canceling Oklahoma was huge.”
Sam Webb: “He visited Michigan sometimes without anyone knowing. When he showed up at Michigan’s camp earlier this month, it wasn’t reported. He came to work out with Ron Bellamy. I have an interview with his mom coming up, and this really convinced me to make a Crystal Ball prediction. My reluctance was due to the time between his official visit and decision, but talking to his mom changed that. She mentioned they addressed concerns about Michigan’s passing game. Kirk and Ron have done an excellent job, and this is reflected in receiver recruitments. Marsh’s mom was very positive about Michigan. His decision timeline might move up, and he might take other visits, but another trip to Michigan would be significant. Landing a blue-chip receiver like Marsh would help with recruiting others.”
