There has been debate among fans of various programs about why top-100 wideout Derek Meadows, ranked as a five-star by 247 Sports for the 2025 class, delayed his decision. Michigan football believes it had an influence, while Notre Dame fans think similarly.
Meadows, who is 6-foot-5 and 200 pounds, is ranked 68th overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings (32nd overall via 247). He visited Michigan in June, and the Wolverines are contenders alongside LSU and Notre Dame.
Notre Dame is considered the favorite, with the only crystal ball prediction ahead of a decision set for Saturday. However, Sam Webb of the Michigan Insider reports that Michigan football remains a “thorn” in the side of both Notre Dame and LSU in this recruitment.
The Wolverines are still in contention. While Webb indicated that his prediction last week would have been for Notre Dame, he stated that Michigan is “absolutely” a player in this race.
Michigan Football in the Mix for Trio of Top-100 Wide Receivers
The Wolverines are in contention to land three top-100 wideouts in the 2025 class. Meadows is one, with his decision coming on Saturday. Andrew Marsh is another, a Texas prospect expected to visit for the Michigan football recruiting BBQ before making a decision in August.
Jerome Myles, another top-100 wideout from Utah, decommitted from Ole Miss this summer and will also visit for the BBQ. Utah and Texas A&M are among the teams to watch, but getting Myles on campus for the BBQ is significant. If Michigan can land just one of these top-100 receivers, it would be a major addition to the 2025 class.
However, if U-M can secure more than one, it could have a substantial impact on their passing game moving forward.
