BREAKING: LSU to flip a recent Michigan football commitment

Rankings are significant but don’t tell the whole story. One of my favorite recruits for Michigan football in the 2025 class is Phillip Wright, despite him being one of the Wolverines’ lowest-ranked commitments at the moment.

Wright’s ranking has been improving. Initially ranked outside the top 500 when he committed to Michigan, he’s now at No. 428 overall in the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Phillip Wright, Destrehan, Wide Receiver

From Louisiana, Wright’s rise is understandable. He has run the 100-meter dash in 10.46 seconds. Like Jasper Parker, he was underrated in Louisiana, but now LSU is making him a priority, which is concerning for Michigan.

LSU is trying to flip a Michigan football commitment.

The Tigers recently beat the Wolverines for Derek Meadows, a top-100 wide receiver from Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas. However, they’ve missed out on other prospects. Shea Dixon of the LSU On3 site, The Bengal Tiger, reports that LSU is still targeting Wright and could be making progress towards flipping him.

The report indicates that LSU is trying to get Wright on campus for their recruiting event at the end of July. If that happens, a flip is a real possibility. Similar to Parker, Michigan secured Wright’s commitment partly due to LSU’s initial lack of interest.

Now, LSU’s interest has changed, making Wright a top target. The Wolverines will have to work hard to retain his commitment until Signing Day. Keep an eye on Wright next weekend; if he doesn’t visit LSU, it would be a positive sign for Michigan’s chances of holding onto him.
