Buffalo Bills wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling has had a challenging preseason, and his spot on the 53-man roster is uncertain. A recent injury only added to his difficulties, but there was some good news after the incident.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, X-rays on Valdes-Scantling’s neck came back negative, although his status for the upcoming week remains unclear. This update is encouraging after he was carted off the field during the last game.
Valdes-Scantling joined the Bills in May on a one-year contract. He spent the past two seasons with the Chiefs, where he started 10 games, recorded 21 catches for 315 yards and a touchdown, and was part of two Super Bowl-winning teams. Despite a notable drop in a critical game against the Eagles last November, quarterback Patrick Mahomes took responsibility for the play.
Before his time with the Chiefs, Valdes-Scantling played for the Packers from 2018 to 2021, with his best season in 2020 when he tallied 690 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
Recently, it seemed that Valdes-Scantling was finding his rhythm with the Bills. Quarterback Josh Allen mentioned that their chemistry had improved, despite Valdes-Scantling joining OTAs later than most. Allen praised Valdes-Scantling’s experience and football intelligence, highlighting his value to the team.
