JUST IN :Cowboys 5 star receiver returns to team

OXNARD, Calif. (AP) — Cowboys receiver Brandin Cooks has left Dallas to handle a personal matter, causing him to miss the last few days of training camp in California.

“Everything is fine,” said coach Mike McCarthy before Tuesday’s practice in Oxnard. “It’s a positive situation, but he won’t be practicing today or tomorrow.”

The Cowboys are set to finish camp on Thursday and will face the Los Angeles Chargers at home in their preseason finale on Saturday.
Cooks was the only established receiver at camp, with All-Pro CeeDee Lamb holding out in pursuit of a new contract. Lamb is in the final year of his rookie contract.

Last season, the 30-year-old Cooks was a reliable No. 2 option for quarterback Dak Prescott, playing behind Lamb, and has received high praise from McCarthy during this camp.

Cooks recorded 657 receiving yards and eight touchdowns last season and has accumulated 9,273 yards over his 10-year career.
