Seahawks Injury Report: 7 key defensiveplayers miss practice-Ahead of Monday night’s showdown

The injury update for the Seattle Seahawks’ defense on Thursday didn’t bring much positive news.

Starting defensive end Leonard Williams (ribs), defensive tackle Byron Murphy II (hamstring), outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu (knee), starting inside linebacker Jerome Baker (hamstring), and starting outside linebacker Boye Mafe (knee) were all marked as non-participants in Thursday’s practice. Additionally, starting right guard Anthony Bradford (knee) was also listed as a non-participant.

Starting running back Kenneth Walker III (oblique) was among six players who participated in practice on a limited basis. The list of limited participants also included starting tight end Noah Fant (toe), tight end Pharaoh Brown (foot), starting left guard Laken Tomlinson (ankle), outside linebacker Derick Hall (hip), and nose tackle Johnathan Hankins (calf).

This was the first of three practice reports for the Seahawks leading up to their Monday Night Football matchup on the road against the Detroit Lions.

Leonard Williams and Byron Murphy both sustained injuries during Seattle’s Week 3 victory over the Miami Dolphins. Williams left the game with a rib injury on Seattle’s first defensive series, while Murphy injured his hamstring midway through the second quarter. Initially listed as questionable, both were later ruled out by halftime.

Uchenna Nwosu has been out since suffering a sprained MCL in Seattle’s preseason finale on August 24. Head coach Mike Macdonald stated on Monday that the veteran linebacker is expected to return to practice sometime this week.

Jerome Baker missed last week’s game against the Dolphins due to a hamstring injury he sustained during Seattle’s Week 2 victory over the New England Patriots.

Kenneth Walker III has been out for the Seahawks’ last two games after suffering an oblique injury in the fourth quarter of their Week 1 win against the Denver Broncos.

Boye Mafe, Derick Hall, and Pharaoh Brown have returned to the injury report after playing in Sunday’s game, following their questionable status last Friday.

Seattle also listed seven players as full participants on its injury report: starting wide receivers DK Metcalf (hand) and Tyler Lockett (thigh), wide receiver Jake Bobo (knee), starting inside linebacker Tyrel Dodson (shoulder), safety K’Von Wallace (shoulder), running back Kenny McIntosh (hand), and tight end Brady Russell (shoulder).
