Yankees still in the market to add Another two potential Talents

Despite a busy offseason, the New York Yankees still have several tasks to complete before the 2025 season kicks off. Although they’ve made significant additions to strengthen their center field, first base, and bullpen, they are still looking to acquire another infielder and possibly a left fielder.

The Yankees’ bullpen has gained some stability with the additions of elite closer Devin Williams and strikeout specialist Fernando Cruz through trades. However, they still have a gap to fill on the other side of the pen and are aiming to add a left-handed reliever via free agency.

One of the players the Yankees are reportedly interested in is breakout lefty Tim Hill, according to Jon Heyman of The New York Post.

Heyman wrote, “The Yankees also brought back uber-talented Jonathan Loaisiga and added strikeout artist Fernando Cruz in a trade for pitch-gaming savant Jose Trevino, bolstering their strong bullpen — though they still need a lefty (they’re pursuing old friend Tim Hill and others).”

Hill was a key contributor for the Yankees in 2024, playing a major role in helping the team reach the World Series for the first time in 15 years. While it may be unrealistic to expect him to replicate his 2.05 ERA from last season, his improvements under pitching coach Matt Blake were clear.

After being released by the Chicago White Sox and signing with the Yankees on June 20, Hill had been dominant, despite his previous 5.87 ERA with the White Sox and a career 4.30 ERA.

The Yankees likely still need to add two left-handed relievers to their bullpen. If Hill can replicate some of the success from his breakout season, the Yankees’ bullpen will continue to be a strong asset for the team.
