McCutchan, a 6-foot-4, 235-pounder from Cincinnati (Ohio) Archbishop Moeller High, visited UNC in late March. There, the Tar Heels’ staff offered.

“[The visit and offer] absolutely impacts my recruiting and my thoughts about UNC,” McCutchan told Inside Carolina following the visit. “I definitely can see myself playing in this system, with these coaches at UNC.

“It was a great visit. I loved meeting with Coach Belichick and Coach Kitchens and getting to see the campus for the first time. Both coaches talked about the importance of the tight ends and the major role they will have [in UNC’s offense].”

McCutchan had scheduled official visits with Duke (May 30) and Purdue (June 13), and planned to do the same with Wisconsin.

The 247Sports Composite ranks McCutchan as the No. 865 prospect and No. 43 tight end in the nation, and as the No. 35 recruit in Ohio.

During his junior season, McCutchan hauled in 35 catches for 569 yards and seven touchdowns.

‘I believe I’m a four-down tight end who doesn’t have to come off the field,” McCutchan told 247Sports. ”I take blocking seriously, but I can still get open and make plays.”

He is the 14th commitment in UNC’s 2026 recruiting class, and the first tight end.
