The Denver Broncos put forth a sluggish, sloppy effort on Sunday against the New York Jets, but still won the game 13-11. They used a strong defensive performance to make up for a weak offensive showing to get to 4-2 on the season.
It seems like it would be a good time for the team to have a break and historically, teams that have played in an international game have had their bye week. But with the league expanding on its international schedule, a week off following one of those games is no longer a guarantee.

Denver Coach Fires Back at Justin Fields After “Did Dirty” Comment
Denver, CO — Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton (or current coach, depending on timing) didn’t hold back when asked about Justin Fields’ recent remark accusing the Broncos of having “done Russell Wilson dirty.”
After Fields made headlines following a Steelers-Broncos game by saying, “We all know Russ got did dirty last year,” the Broncos’ coach addressed the comment in today’s press conference.
“I heard what he said,” Payton began, measured but firm.
“First, I can’t control what others say. But what I can control is how we respond. If there’s unfinished business or perceived grievances, we always encourage professionalism and direct communication.”
He continued:
“We’ve got respect for all the men who’ve worn a Broncos uniform — Russ included. If there was anything mishandled, it wasn’t out of malice; decisions in this league are complex and often dictated by performance, health, or strategy. But we don’t shy away from accountability.”
When pressed if he felt directly attacked, he replied:
“I don’t see it as an attack. I see it as emotion. Look: the NFL is personal. Players feel things. But our job as coaches is to focus on the field, stay consistent, and let results speak louder than words.”
Payton closed by noting:
“Words come and go; respect is earned. If Mr. Fields wants to talk, our door is open. Until then, we’ll let the tape, the roster, and our performance set the tone.”
