The last of six prominent quarterbacks chosen in the first twelve picks of the 2024 NFL Draft, Bo Nix is the first among them to finalize his rookie contract.
Denver has officially signed Nix to a four-year rookie deal, with a fifth-year option included, as announced by the team.
Selected by the Broncos at No. 12 overall, Nix is intended to fill the void left by Russell Wilson and become the next franchise quarterback for a team that has lacked one since the days of Peyton Manning.
Nix, at 24 years old, is relatively mature for a rookie, having spent three seasons with Auburn and two more with Oregon. He concluded his college career with 1,936 passing yards, 85 touchdowns, and 26 interceptions in 61 games played.
As a Heisman finalist in his final season with the Ducks, Nix enters a quarterback room featuring Zach Wilson and Jarrett Stidham, both previous starters but likely to be behind the rookie initially, as head coach Sean Payton seeks to find his match, akin to his tenure with Drew Brees during his 15 seasons leading the New Orleans Saints.
Finalizing the contract is just one step in the process.
With the paperwork completed, Nix can now shift his focus to the offseason program and ultimately prove Denver’s decision to draft him early was justified.
