The Buffalo Bills extended their AFC East lead on Monday night with a win over the New York Jets, but they missed several key opportunities, particularly on special teams. Kicker Tyler Bass struggled, missing two kicks, including an extra point in the first half. So far this season, Bass has made only 75 percent of his field goals and 90 percent of his extra points.
In response, the Bills reportedly signed kicker Lukas Havrisik to their practice squad on Thursday. Havrisik, who is 25, played nine games for the Los Angeles Rams last season, converting 75 percent of his field goals and 86 percent of his extra points.
Although Havrisik is younger, his recent performance hasn’t been significantly better than Bass’s. Since he was only added to the practice squad, the Bills aren’t fully committed to replacing Bass yet. Still, the signing indicates the team is exploring potential changes at kicker. As the Bills prepare to face the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, Bass may face increased pressure to perform with his starting position potentially at risk.
