St. Louis Blues president of hockey operations and general manager Doug Armstrong announced on Saturday that the team has signed forward Jakub Stancl to a three-year, entry-level, two-way contract.
Stancl was drafted by the Blues in the fourth round (No. 106) of the 2023 NHL Draft. The 19-year-old spent the 2023-24 season with Växjö Lakers HC in Sweden, recording 14 points (seven goals, seven assists) and 12 penalty minutes in 28 games with their U20 team in Sweden’s top junior hockey league. He also added one point in four playoff games.
Hailing from Praha, Czechia, Stancl also played seven games for Växjö Lakers HC in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), where he scored one goal and recorded two penalty minutes.
Internationally, Stancl has represented Czechia five times at the junior level. Most recently, he scored six points (four goals, two assists) in seven games during the 2024 World Junior Championship in Sweden. Czechia won the bronze medal after defeating Finland 8-5, following a semi-final loss to host Sweden. Team USA defeated Sweden for the gold medal.

Last season, Stancl recorded 11 points (six goals, five assists) in 20 international games.
The St. Louis Blues missed the postseason for the second consecutive year, finishing with a 43-33-6 record and missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs by six points. On Dec. 12, the Blues fired head coach Craig Berube after a 6-4 loss to the Detroit Red Wings, marking their fourth straight defeat. Drew Bannister took over as interim coach, leading the Blues to a 30-19-5 record and was officially named head coach on May 7.
