The Indiana Fever officially appointed Stephanie White as their new head coach on Friday, giving the 47-year-old the responsibility of leading reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark and her teammates to new heights in 2025 and beyond. White’s connection to the Fever runs deep, as she played five of her six WNBA seasons with Indiana, where she averaged 6.1 points per game and shot 36.5% from beyond the arc.

She was also the first player in Fever history to wear the No. 22 jersey, which she donned throughout her five years with the team. Now, as she returns to Indiana’s sidelines, the Fever’s original No. 22 is back to coach the new No. 22. That’s pretty special.

White also has experience on the Fever’s coaching staff, starting as an assistant in 2011 before taking the head coach role in 2015. In her two seasons as head coach, she led the team to a 37–31 record and a trip to the WNBA Finals in 2015 before moving to coach at Vanderbilt in 2016.
After spending the last two seasons with the Connecticut Sun, White now looks to help Clark and the Fever build on their 20–20 record from 2024, which ended in a two-game sweep by the Sun in the first round of the playoffs. Indianapolis fans, get those No. 22 jerseys ready!
