BREAKING: MLB insider reveals Yankees to trade top-star prospect this summer

Rumors suggest the New York Yankees are poised to be aggressive buyers ahead of the MLB trade deadline this summer. Already among the top teams in baseball, a significant trade involving one of their top prospects could enhance their championship prospects.

The Yankees are focusing on acquiring relievers and corner infielders this July. They aim to bolster their bullpen with high strikeout rate pitchers known for their swing-and-miss capabilities. Additionally, they’re interested in a first baseman or third baseman to provide more options, potentially replacing Anthony Rizzo.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Yankees are unwilling to trade Dominguez this summer, even for an impactful player. They hope Dominguez can secure a starting spot in the Opening Day lineup next season.

Dominguez is expected to miss most of the 2024 season due to an oblique injury. Yankees manager Aaron Boone stated on July 10 that Dominguez “still has got a ways to go” before returning.

The 21-year-old outfielder debuted in the MLB in 2023, hitting .258/.303/.677. Despite a 24.2 percent strikeout rate and a below-average OBP, Dominguez hit 4 home runs in 40 plate appearances for the Yankees.

Dominguez is likely to start the 2025 season at Triple-A. If he performs well and remains healthy, an early May call-up in 2025 is possible.

Regarding the 2024 trade deadline, several of the Yankees’ top prospects are believed to be available. While retaining Jones and Dominguez likely rules out acquiring All-Star closer Mason Miller, the Yankees still have several attractive trade options.
