Thaddeus Moss, who made two touchdown receptions in the 2020 National Championship Game, has retired from football after being cut by the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The 25-year-old, a member of LSU Tigers’ 2019 National Championship team, announced his retirement, stating, “It is always important to know when something has reached its end… Thank You.”
The son of NFL Hall of Famer Randy Moss, Thaddeus started his college career at North Carolina State before transferring to LSU and winning the 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship. During his time at LSU, he made 47 receptions for 570 yards and four touchdowns, with three of those touchdowns coming in the College Football Playoff.
Moss scored one touchdown in LSU’s Peach Bowl win over Oklahoma Sooners and two crucial scores in their victory over the Clemson Tigers. His first touchdown of the game came just before halftime, giving LSU an 11-point lead, while the second came in the third quarter, extending their lead to 10.
Following his college career, Moss entered the NFL Draft, signing with the Washington Commanders as an undrafted free agent but was hampered by injuries and eventually released. He later joined the Cincinnati Bengals but faced further injury setbacks, never making an appearance in an NFL game.
Despite his NFL struggles, Moss won the 2023 USFL Championship with the Birmingham Stallions but did not continue with the team when it transitioned to the UFL for the 2024 season.
