The captain of the Oilers, Connor McDavid, achieved a remarkable feat last month by scoring seven goals and providing 24 assists. This outstanding performance earned him 31 points, making him the first player since Jaromir Jagr with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2000-01 season to achieve such a tally in March.

As a result, McDavid has been honored as the NHL’s First Star of the Month for March, leading the league with his impressive point total. Throughout the month, he showcased his talent with five three-point games and a standout four-point performance against the Buffalo Sabres on March 21st. Currently on an eight-game point streak, McDavid’s total points for the season now stand at 126.

 

He is in close contention for the Art Ross Trophy scoring title, trailing behind Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche and Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning by just one point. McDavid’s stellar contributions played a significant role in the Oilers’ strong performance during March, where they achieved a record of 10 wins, 3 losses, and 2 overtime losses in the 15 games played.
