The Kentucky Wildcats have secured another significant commitment for their 2025 football class with the addition of 4-star cornerback Andrew Purcell from Alabama.
Purcell announced his decision on Monday morning, following an official visit to Lexington over the weekend.
This commitment follows the recent pledge from 4-star recruit Ja’kayden Ferguson, who also visited Kentucky this weekend. It was a highly productive few days for head coach Mark Stoops and his staff.
The 5-foot-9, 185-pound cornerback from Enterprise High chose Kentucky over Miami and Georgia. Purcell had recently visited both schools before making his trip to Lexington, which ultimately sealed his commitment.
“I like everything about Kentucky,” Purcell told On3. “The culture, the people, and the coaching staff. Those were big reasons why I committed to Kentucky.”
Defensive Backs coach Chris Collins was the primary recruiter for Purcell, who is a versatile player capable of playing outside corner or nickel.
Ranked as the 35th-best cornerback nationally by Rivals, which awarded him a 4-star rating, Purcell is also the 16th-best player from Alabama, a state known for its rich football talent. He had additional offers from Clemson, Florida, Ole Miss, Oregon, and Tennessee.
Purcell is the ninth commitment in Kentucky’s 2025 class and the second defensive back, joining safety Martels Carter.
This marks another significant victory for the Kentucky coaching staff on the recruiting trail.
