Alabama softball has secured its fourth recruit for 2024 through the transfer portal.
On Monday night, former Mississippi State infielder Salen Hawkins announced via her social media that she is joining the Crimson Tide, with three years of eligibility remaining.
“Big thank you to the Bama coaches and staff for this amazing opportunity,” Hawkins shared on Instagram. “God is so good! Roll Tide!”
Last season, Hawkins started 52 games at second base for Mississippi State, appearing in 53 of the Bulldogs’ 54 games. She posted a .294 batting average with three home runs and 26 RBIs during her freshman year, ranking fifth among eligible SEC freshmen.
She was named SEC Freshman of the Week on March 12 after batting .625 in the series against Ole Miss and earned Third Team All-South Region honors.
Hawkins, from Phoenix, Arizona, joins fellow Arizona natives Jocelyn Briski and Riley Valentine on the roster. She played travel ball with Valentine on the Arizona Storm and high school ball with Briski at Desert Vista.
Hawkins is Alabama’s second inter-conference transfer, joining Ole Miss pitcher Catelyn Riley. The Crimson Tide has also received commitments from UNC Wilmington pitcher Emily Winstead and Northern Iowa utility player Alexis Pupillo through the portal.
