Despite declaring for the NBA Draft months ago, former Kentucky guard Rob Dillingham has yet to complete all the necessary requirements to be eligible for selection in this month’s draft.
This situation is set to change later this week.
Dillingham, who was invited to the 2024 NBA Draft Combine, could not complete all measurements and testing due to an ankle injury sustained early in the week. He has been sidelined since then.
However, this will change on Friday. According to ESPN Draft Insider Jonathan Givony, Dillingham will fulfill all remaining requirements this week in Los Angeles.
“Dillingham has not yet completed all the requirements needed to be eligible for selection in the draft, per the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement,” Givony wrote. “An ankle injury prevented Dillingham from conducting athletic testing and shooting drills at the NBA draft combine in Chicago in mid-May, and has also kept him from attending private workouts with NBA teams so far.
“Dillingham’s ankle has healed, and he plans on fulfilling those requirements at the Lakers’ practice facility on Friday, his agent Lucas Newton of Klutch Sports told ESPN.”
Invitations for the NBA Draft Green Room were sent out on Tuesday and included Reed Sheppard, but Dillingham has not yet received one due to his injury. This is expected to change after he completes testing on Friday.
Dillingham was projected to be a top-10 pick for most of the pre-draft process. However, his injury has cast some doubt on his previously solid status.
He is currently listed as No. 7 on ESPN’s Big Board, and with his exceptional ability to create opportunities off the dribble, unlike any other guard in the 2024 draft class, his draft stock remains high.
Dillingham is coming off a freshman season where he averaged 15.2 points, 3.9 assists, and shot 44.4 percent from three, despite starting just one game all year.
