The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired pitcher José Hernández from the Pittsburgh Pirates for cash considerations on Thursday.
Hernández, who was designated for assignment on Tuesday, had appeared in seven games for the Pirates this season, posting a 1-1 record with a 3.38 ERA and four strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings.
Over parts of two seasons with the Pirates, the 26-year-old left-hander recorded a 2-4 record with a 4.82 ERA in 56 innings, striking out 66 batters.
Originally from the Dominican Republic, Hernández was signed by the Dodgers as an international free agent in 2016 and was later acquired by the Pirates in the 2022 Rule 5 draft.
To accommodate Hernández on the roster, the Dodgers transferred right-handed pitcher Ryan Brasier to the 60-day injured list.
