The Georgia Bulldogs should strongly consider targeting Notre Dame offensive lineman Pat Coogan in the NCAA transfer portal. Coogan, a 6-foot-5, 310-pound redshirt junior, boasts 26 career starts and primarily played left guard for the Fighting Irish. He has one season of eligibility remaining.
Georgia faces a significant turnover on the offensive line after losing four of its five starters to the 2025 NFL Draft. While the Bulldogs return experienced players such as guard Micah Morris, tackle Earnest Greene, center Drew Bobo, and tackle Monroe Freeling, adding a seasoned player like Coogan could solidify the group.
Currently, Georgia could rely on its roster depth, with players like redshirt freshman Daniel Calhoun, redshirt sophomore Bo Hughley, and redshirt freshman Michael Uini competing for the remaining guard spot. However, none of these players have appeared in more than three games, highlighting the need for a proven option like Coogan.
Coogan’s experience and leadership would provide much-needed stability to the Bulldogs’ offensive line while helping to replace the talent lost to the draft. His presence could also mentor Georgia’s younger linemen as they develop. With his experience at left guard, the same position Dylan Fairchild played last season, Coogan would be an excellent fit for Georgia’s needs.
