With the offseason NFL moves mostly settled and training camps starting, players are beginning to understand their roles for the upcoming 2024 season. Many will get their first chance to be regular starters in the league, including former Georgia Bulldog, Zamir White.
White, a running back, is entering his third year with the Las Vegas Raiders. Drafted in the fourth round (122nd overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft, White has spent the past seasons behind Josh Jacobs, who has since moved to the Green Bay Packers. This shift opens up an opportunity for White to become the starting running back for the Raiders, making him a potential breakout candidate.
ESPN agrees, listing White as the 13th top under-the-radar player for the 2024 NFL season. They highlighted his 2021 performance at Georgia, where he averaged 5.4 yards per carry, scored 11 touchdowns on 160 carries, and showcased his power, physicality, strong lower body, and above-average vision.
Another former Georgia running back, James Cook, faced a similar situation in 2023 with the Buffalo Bills and seized the opportunity, finishing the season with 1,122 rushing yards, two touchdowns, and 4.7 yards per carry, plus 445 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
While White isn’t as effective in the passing game as Cook, he was a key player for Georgia. Despite concerns about his history of knee injuries, he has been durable in recent years.
With questions surrounding the Raiders’ quarterback position between Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew, White could help alleviate some of the organization’s concerns in the passing game this season.
