Georgia quarterback Carson Beck is projected to be one of the top quarterbacks in the country in 2024.
In 2023, his first year in Kirby Smart’s system, he threw for 3,941 yards and 24 touchdowns with only six interceptions. With another offseason of preparation, there are high expectations that he will elevate his performance from great to elite in 2024.
This is exactly what UGA is hoping for as the Bulldogs aim to return to championship football. Beck needs to be one of the top quarterbacks in the nation to achieve this, and if he succeeds, he should be in the running for the 2024 Heisman Trophy.
Recently, in an interview with “Bayou Time Sports” (via On3), Beck expressed that being a Heisman contender isn’t just about him. He believes it reflects more on UGA as a whole.
Nonetheless, Beck still aspires to win the Heisman. Even though he views it as a team accomplishment, the Heisman is considered one of the most prestigious individual awards in sports.
Becoming a Heisman candidate would be a dream come true for Beck, but it’s not his sole focus for 2024.
UGA’s last Heisman Trophy winner was Herschel Walker in 1982. Former quarterback Stetson Bennett was a finalist in 2022, and before him, the last finalist was running back Garrison Hearst in 1992.
According to betting odds, Beck is the preseason favorite to win the 2024 Heisman Trophy at +750.
