It’s always unfortunate to see a player retire early in their career, and on Wednesday, a young Georgia Bulldog is expected to retire due to medical reasons.

Georgia’s Former Four-Star Prospect Is Set To Retire 

Jake Rowe from DawgsHQ reports that offensive lineman Kelton Smith is taking a medical disqualification and retiring from football.

Smith stated, “Details regarding the specific ailments Smith is dealing with are unavailable at this time, but according to sources familiar with the situation, there are multiple issues.”

Smith, hailing from Columbus, Georgia, was a four-star recruit in the 2023 class. According to 247sports.com, he was the eighth-ranked interior offensive lineman and the 17th-best overall player in Georgia for his class.

Unfortunately, the former Georgia native did not play any snaps for the Bulldogs last season. Smith is the second Bulldog to retire this season due to medical issues, following tight end Pearce Spurlin, who stepped away because of a heart condition.
