The Mets have acquired left-handed reliever Kolton Ingram via waivers from the Tigers. This move necessitated placing David Peterson on the 60-day injured list to accommodate Ingram on New York’s 40-man roster.
Ingram finds himself joining his third organization in a month, as the Tigers designated him for assignment earlier this week. In January, the 27-year-old was similarly designated by the Angels.
Originally drafted by Detroit in 2019, Ingram played in their farm system until his release in 2020. He then signed with the Angels, primarily playing in the minors. His major league debut occurred last year, where he struggled with an 8.44 ERA over 5 1/3 innings, recording seven strikeouts and five walks in five appearances.
During the previous season, Ingram performed well in the minors, registering a 2.95 ERA over 61 innings with a 1.23 WHIP across 45 appearances.
Following his brief tenure with the Angels, the Tigers claimed Ingram off waivers for a second stint in Detroit.
