BROOKLYN – The Brooklyn Nets have traded guard Spencer Dinwiddie to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for guard Dennis Schröder and forward Thaddeus Young. Additionally, the Nets have requested waivers for center Harry Giles III.

Schröder, standing at 6’3” and weighing 175 pounds, has appeared in 51 games this season for the Raptors, starting in 33 of them. He’s been posting solid numbers with averages of 13.7 points, shooting 44.2 percent from the field, 35.0 percent from beyond the arc, and 85.2 percent from the free-throw line, along with 2.7 rebounds and 6.1 assists in 30.6 minutes per game. Notably, his assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.77 ranks him 10th in the league, marking a career high. The 30-year-old German player has been consistently present this season, following his successful stint in leading Germany to its first-ever gold medal at the FIBA World Cup last summer, where he was also awarded the FIBA World Cup MVP. Throughout his NBA career spanning 11 seasons with various teams, including Atlanta, Oklahoma City, the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston, Houston, and Toronto, Schröder has maintained averages of 14.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 4.8 assists in 27.1 minutes per game across 739 games, with 350 starts. He was initially drafted by Atlanta in the first round of the 2013 NBA Draft after playing professionally in Germany and receiving notable accolades such as the Bundesliga Most Improved Player and Bundesliga Best German Young Player in his final season with Phantoms Braunschweig in 2013.

In return, the Raptors receive Spencer Dinwiddie, who has played and started in 48 games this season for the Nets, averaging 12.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 6.0 assists in 30.7 minutes per game. Dinwiddie, who has played 348 games with the Nets across two stints, has maintained averages of 14.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 5.7 assists in 28.7 minutes per game.

Additionally, the Nets have parted ways with center Harry Giles III, who appeared in 16 games off the bench this season, averaging 3.4 points and 1.6 rebounds in 5.1 minutes per game. Giles was signed by Brooklyn as a free agent on September 6, 2023.
