BREAKING NEWS: New York Giants Find New Franchise Quarterback in NFL Key man

Amid ongoing speculation regarding the future of New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones, NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah has offered a bold prediction about the team’s prospects for the 2024 season in his latest mock draft update. Initially projecting the Giants to choose LSU Tigers standout wide receiver Malik Nabers in his earlier 2024 Mock Draft 1.0, Jeremiah now foresees the NFC East franchise opting for a quarterback early in the upcoming April draft. According to his updated 2024 Mock Draft 2.0, the Giants are poised to select LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels as the sixth overall pick.

In Jeremiah’s recent mock draft, Daniels emerges as the third quarterback chosen. Jeremiah’s forecast has USC’s Caleb Williams as the first overall pick to the Chicago Bears, while the Washington Commanders are predicted to select North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye with the subsequent pick.

Jayden Daniels, LSU Tigers Quarterback: Heisman Trophy Contender
After experiencing a mixed bag of performances during three seasons with the Arizona State Sun Devils, quarterback Jayden Daniels made the transition to LSU Tigers in 2022, coinciding with the arrival of Brian Kelly as the new head coach. Daniels showcased his abilities in his debut season with LSU, boasting a completion rate of 69% while amassing 2,913 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, and three interceptions across 14 games. Additionally, he rushed for 885 yards and scored 11 touchdowns

Building on his impressive debut, Daniels demonstrated significant progress in the following season. The California native enjoyed a stellar campaign, recording 3,812 passing yards, 40 touchdowns, and four interceptions while completing 72% of his passes. He also showcased his mobility, rushing for 1,134 yards and scoring ten touchdowns. Daniels topped the SEC in various statistical categories, including passing touchdowns, passing efficiency rating, yards per rushing attempt, and total yards.

New York Giants: Transitioning from Daniel Jones with a Draft Pick
Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network suggests that the New York Giants are poised to select a quarterback with the sixth overall pick, though they might consider trading up if necessary. Jeremiah refrains from making trade projections at this early stage of the draft process, leaving Daniels available at No. 6 in his mock scenario. While the Giants could explore moving up for a quarterback, Daniels is projected to land in their lap in this instance.

The selection of LSU Tigers Heisman Trophy recipient Jayden Daniels by the New York Giants would mark a departure from the Daniel Jones era. Jones, selected sixth overall in the 2019 NFL draft, displayed promise in the 2022 season, but struggled this season due to injuries and a decline in performance. Drafting Daniels in the first round could cast doubt on the wisdom of Jones’ contract extension, signed just a year prior.
