Ohio State’s Running Back Squad Gets a Boost
The Ohio State running back lineup just became even more formidable. Coaches Ryan Day and Chip Kelly have worked tirelessly from winter through spring to secure one of the top 2025 recruiting classes. A key addition to this class is Bo Jackson, who had been heavily courted by Alabama’s new coach Kalen DeBoer and Georgia’s Kirby Smart. Despite the tempting offers, Jackson ultimately chose to join the Buckeyes and hasn’t looked back.
Bo Jackson Joins the Buckeyes
According to Garrick Hodge of Eleven Warriors, Bo Jackson is now officially part of Ohio State’s 2025 recruiting class. He joins a robust running back group under Ryan Day, which includes TreVeyon Henderson, Quinshon Judkins, James Peoples, TC Caffrey, and Sam Williams-Dixon.
Jackson’s decision to pick Ohio State over Georgia and Alabama hinged on the team’s promised usage of him. His goal of reaching the NFL requires ample opportunities to showcase his talent. He explained, “They say with a new offensive coordinator they’re going to get the ball to the running back a lot in the backfield. Throwing the ball, running the ball, everything. My parents and I had a good talk with Chip Kelly during my spring visit to Ohio State. The way he’s got everything set up in the offense. It feels like it’s going to open up everything with everything spaced out.”
Jackson loves how Ohio State uses their backs, stating, “I love how they use their backs.”
With Jackson, Ohio State adds a powerful runner with impressive endurance, known for his stiff arm and ability to score. He scored 30 touchdowns and racked up 1,700 rushing yards last season. Despite competition for snaps, Jackson is expected to stand out. The Buckeyes managed to fend off high-profile programs like Georgia and Alabama to secure the fifth-ranked running back in the 2025 class.
Opportunities Await Jackson at Ohio State
Ohio State consistently attracts top-tier talent, supported by a large NIL budget, a passionate alumni fanbase, and a football-crazed student body, making it an appealing destination for recruits.
The running back situation at Ohio State will likely become clearer when Jackson officially joins the program. With Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson expected to enter the NFL draft next year, Jackson could become the primary option for ground plays.
This opportunity will allow Jackson to demonstrate his skills to NFL scouts. His anticipated production could even propel Ohio State towards a national title run. Coach Ryan Day could potentially secure a College Football Playoff National Championship before Alabama or Georgia can reclaim the title.
