Former New England Patriots Super Bowl champion Malcolm Butler was apprehended on March 16th for driving under the influence, as per TMZ Sports. According to documents from the North Providence Police Department, Butler was detained on March 16 after exhibiting signs of intoxication during a traffic stop.
Law enforcement officials stated that they initially pulled over Butler’s white Mercedes-Benz around 3:22 AM, as it was reportedly obstructing traffic while stationary in a travel lane.
Butler, renowned for his pivotal interception in Super Bowl 49 that secured victory for the Patriots, now faces legal proceedings for the alleged drunk driving incident.
According to WPRI, North Providence police arrested the former NFL cornerback on March 16 and formally charged him on March 21 with one count of driving under the influence of alcohol. Court records indicate that he is scheduled for arraignment on Thursday.
