The San Antonio Spurs are anticipated to be very active this summer, with various free-agent targets, draft strategies, and trade options already being linked to the team in NBA rumors. Unsurprisingly, there is significant competition for some of the Spurs’ targets.
The Spurs’ primary focus is the 2024 NBA Draft, with the front office striving to trade up for the No. 1 overall pick. Whether they succeed in this or stick with their original picks (4th and 8th overall), the Spurs plan to enhance their roster in other ways.
In the early offseason, trade rumors connected Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star guard Darius Garland and Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray to San Antonio. While the Spurs see both players as good fits alongside Victor Wembanyama, they recognize that free agency might be the simplest way to add talent.

According to Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report, forward Tobias Harris is expected to attract interest from the Spurs, Detroit Pistons, Utah Jazz, New Orleans Pelicans, and Dallas Mavericks in NBA free agency.
Ian Begley of SNY supports this, noting the Mavericks and Jazz as two teams to watch regarding Harris. A return to the Philadelphia 76ers appears unlikely for Harris.
Tobias Harris stats (2023-’24): 17.2 PPG, 6.5 RPG, 3.1 APG, 1 SPG, 48.7% FG
Harris, turning 32 in July, is likely to secure a contract up to four years. A New York native, Harris has already played for five NBA teams. He would probably only be a feasible option for the Mavericks if they manage to trade Tim Hardaway Jr. and clear his contract.
