Alabama football secured another offensive line commitment with Mal Waldrep, an offensive tackle from Central-Phenix City, the state’s reigning 7A state champions, announcing his decision on Tuesday.
Waldrep, a three-star prospect ranked as the No. 40 offensive tackle in the class of 2025 by the 247Sports composite rankings, made his announcement on social media. He chose Alabama over Clemson, Florida, and Tennessee.
247Sports national recruiting analyst Cooper Petagna highlighted Waldrep’s versatility in his evaluation.
“A nimble mover who can advance to the second level and perform well in space, Waldrep’s size and skillset suggest he could transition inside, contributing effectively as a guard or even as a center,” Petagna wrote. “If utilized as an offensive tackle in college, he is likely to excel on the right side. Waldrep projects as a versatile starter at the next level, capable of providing depth and value at multiple positions.”
Waldrep is the second offensive line commitment for Alabama’s 2025 class, joining four-star IOL prospect Michael Carroll, who committed on Monday.
As an Alabama legacy, with his father, Mal Waldrep Sr., playing for UA in the late 1990s and early 2000s, the younger Waldrep stands at 6-foot-5 and 315 pounds, making him Alabama’s 14th commitment for the class of 2025.
