According to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports, the Phoenix Suns and Utah Jazz have engaged in trade discussions involving the 22nd pick, as well as the 29th and 32nd picks. He shared this information on the latest episode of the Burns & Gambo Show.
It’s well known that the Jazz are aiming to move up in the draft. Earlier today, Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo reported that the Jazz have been actively discussing trades for all their draft picks, as noted in the latest Draft Express article.
A trade between these two teams seems very plausible. At the 22nd pick, prospects like Tidjane Salaun, Isaiah Collier, Ryan Dunn, and Bub Carrington might be available. Additionally, the Suns might want to secure younger players before they lose control of their draft picks until 2031.
However, it’s also possible the Jazz will retain all three picks without making a trade. Andy Larsen of the Salt Lake Tribune discussed Utah Jazz GM Justin Zanik’s response to ESPN’s report on their draft activities. According to Larsen, in recent years, the Jazz have become known for keeping their franchise moves under wraps, making their intentions harder to predict. Did they identify a player they like, or do they simply lack the roster space for three new rookies? With the NBA Draft just two days away, the Jazz are approaching their first off-season move.
