Tennessee football and head coach Josh Heupel have been highly active in recruiting, recently breaking into the top 15 for the 2025 class with the commitment of four-star offensive lineman Douglas Utu from Las Vegas, Nevada.
Utu is the 16th commit for Tennessee’s 2025 class and the seventh four-star recruit. While summer is typically a slow period in college football recruiting, the Vols have been gaining significant momentum.
Chad Simmons of On3 Recruiting predicts that four-star linebacker Jadon Perlotte will switch his commitment from Georgia to Tennessee. Perlotte, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound linebacker, has been committed to Georgia since December 2022, but recent trends suggest he may flip to Tennessee.
This prediction follows Perlotte sharing a photo in Tennessee colors holding the BCS National Championship Coaches’ Trophy, accompanied by three smiling face emojis.
On3 ranks Perlotte as the No. 160 player nationally, the No. 16 linebacker, and the No. 22 player in Georgia. He also received an expert prediction from On3 to flip to Florida State last year, but he remained with Georgia.

The Vols entered Perlotte’s recruitment in June when he visited their campus on June 14. After visiting both Tennessee and Georgia, he is expected to flip to Tennessee.
Should Perlotte commit to Tennessee, it would mark the first major recruit for first-year linebackers coach William Inge, who joined from Alabama. This would be a significant start to his recruiting efforts, securing a top-15 linebacker and top-200 player nationally.
