The former Clemson standout was adamant that he never had any intention of joining the UNC basketball program.
Towards the end of the 2023-2024 college basketball season, there were rumors circulating about potential transfers for the UNC basketball program. One of the biggest rumors involved Clemson’s PJ Hall, a notable big man who Tar Heels fans knew well from his matchups with Armando Bacot. With Bacot nearing the end of his eligibility, Hall was linked to the UNC basketball program if he decided to use his fifth season of eligibility at the college level.
Despite the rumors, nothing materialized as Hall declared for the NBA Draft and hired an agent. During the NBA Draft Combine, Hall addressed reporters and was eager to dispel those rumors. He expressed his loyalty to Clemson, making it clear that he had no desire to return to the college level, now focusing on his NBA career.

However, it’s worth questioning Hall’s stance. Is it really plausible that if he entered the transfer portal and Hubert Davis reached out, Hall wouldn’t be intrigued by the opportunity to spend his final collegiate season with a team that had the potential to contend for a national championship?
In the era of the transfer portal, where unexpected moves are commonplace, this rumor can now officially be put to rest. According to Hall, he had absolutely no interest in joining the UNC basketball program.
