On Saturday night, the Boston Celtics secured a significant 145-113 victory against the Houston Rockets. Despite Jayson Tatum’s impressive performance and noteworthy stats, the Celtics forward was ejected in the late stages of the game. Naturally, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the decision after the matchup concluded.
Jayson Tatum opens up about his late-game ejection in the Celtics-Rockets game
“I didn’t appreciate or like the no-calls on those last two drives. I’m a very self-aware person. I understand the time and score—the game was pretty much over. I just had to stand up for myself, said my piece, got ejected, and that was it,” explained Tatum, as reported by SB Nations’ Noa Dalzell.
Despite his late ejection, the star forward had a productive game, nearly matching his season averages with 27 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. Tatum also showcased an impressive 57% three-point shooting and contributed with one block and one steal.
Teaming up with Tatum, Jaylen Brown also delivered an outstanding performance, finishing the game with 32 points and six rebounds, shooting 66% on three-pointers. Brown’s defensive contributions were notable, registering two blocks and two steals.
With this dominant win, Boston improved their record to 30-9, maintaining their position at the top of the Eastern Conference standings. As the mid-season point approaches, the Celtics find themselves in a comfortable position but must remain focused to pursue an NBA title.
Looking ahead, the Celtics are set to hit the court again on January 15th against the Toronto Raptors.
