Ohio State’s recruiting efforts continue to gain momentum this summer, with the addition of a promising running back to their 2025 class. Four-star running back Isaiah West from St. Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, committed to The Ohio State University earlier today. This marks the second major recruit secured by new running back coach Carlos Locklyn during his short tenure with the Buckeyes.
Isaiah West Brings Explosiveness to Ohio State
Isaiah West is a powerful and explosive running back with notable athletic prowess. Standing at 5’11” and weighing 208 pounds, West fits the ideal profile for a Big 10 running back. He has recorded a 34-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot broad jump, and can squat 500 pounds.
West frequently showcases his ability to break tackles at the second level of the defense. His size and explosiveness make him an excellent change-of-pace back, capable of challenging defenses with significant gains on first down runs.

Isaiah West joins Bo Jackson as the two running back commits for Ohio State’s 2025 class. The two backs complement each other well and could form a formidable duo for the Buckeyes in the future. While Ohio State has several other pending offers, it’s unlikely they will add another running back to the 2025 class with these two already committed.
The Buckeyes have not yet received any commitments for the 2026 class but have nine offers pending. Additionally, they have extended offers to four running backs in the 2027 class.
