The Edmonton Oilers faced a tough 4-1 defeat against the Dallas Stars, marking another early-season loss after two wins that hinted they were regaining form. Despite controlling the first period, they couldn’t maintain momentum, particularly struggling on power plays.
Head coach Kris Knoblauch acknowledged the team’s power play issues, stating they might need to make adjustments soon, as they’ve only scored once in 15 opportunities across six games. Though not committing to immediate changes, he admitted it’s a pressing concern.
Zach Hyman, usually a top power-play scorer, has yet to score this season. Last year, by this point, he had six goals. Despite this, Hyman remains optimistic, believing their continued efforts around the net will eventually pay off.
Knoblauch hasn’t revealed specific changes, but potential adjustments could involve personnel or new play strategies. Although the Oilers have had one of the league’s top power plays in recent years, opponents seem to have adapted.
"We're at the point where we gotta be considering making some adjustments to it."

In this game, the Oilers dominated the opening 20 minutes, but the turning point came when Dallas scored on a power play midway through the second period. Edmonton, despite having chances, failed to convert. After two more Dallas goals, Leon Draisaitl scored late in the third period before Dallas sealed the game with an empty-netter.
The Oilers, now 2-4, need their power play to improve to reverse their fortunes.
