BREAKING: Pirates Top-star and Paul Skenes named to All-Star team

The complete rosters for the MLB’s All-Star Game were revealed Sunday afternoon, shortly after the starters were announced. Joining the National League team from the Pirates are outfielder Bryan Reynolds and rookie pitcher Paul Skenes.

Bryan Reynolds can become next Pirates breakout star — even if nobody notices

This marks Reynolds’ second All-Star appearance. After an almost flawless June, he was a contender for player of the month. Although he didn’t win that title, Reynolds has been exceptional at the plate, ranking second in home runs, second in OPS, and third in batting average among NL outfielders as of Sunday. His impressive 25-game hitting streak significantly boosted these stats, especially following a shaky start to the season. Reynolds is now hitting his stride and aims to continue his strong performance.

For the rookie Skenes, this is uncharted territory, particularly after beginning the season with Triple-A Indianapolis. He is the first Pirates rookie to be named to the All-Star game and the first since Tony Womack in 1997. Skenes boasts a 5-0 record with a 2.12 ERA and 78 strikeouts, demonstrating why he is considered one of the top pitching prospects. Just a year after being drafted from LSU, Skenes’ promising career appears to be just beginning.
