With their record sitting at a dismal 2-7 and multiple offensive staffing changes, the Las Vegas Raiders have little left to play for nine games into the season. The team is left with three underperforming quarterbacks and, aside from pride, minimal motivation to win games. Their current situation actually favors them securing a higher pick in the NFL draft the more they lose. While the front office and fans may be eyeing the best possible draft position, All-Pro pass rusher Maxx Crosby isn’t on the same page. Appearing on “Let’s Go,” Crosby voiced his ambition to spoil the season for every team Las Vegas faces. “The reality is we are what our record says, and it’s 2-7, which is not good,” Crosby admitted. “So I see it like being the Joker. If we’re not the king of the castle right now, we might as well ruin everyone else’s season. I love that. I love being the villain.”
The Raiders have plenty of chances ahead to disrupt their opponents’ playoff hopes, especially for teams like divisional rivals the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers, as well as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are fighting through injuries to stay in the playoff hunt. Whether any late-season wins will benefit the Raiders’ future is another question.
This week, Crosby and the Raiders will have an opportunity to play spoiler against a team struggling to reach the playoff picture: the 2-6 Miami Dolphins, who are looking to turn things around with Tua Tagovailoa back at quarterback.
