BREAKING:”Georgia Battles Rival for 3,995-Yard QB to Succeed Carson Beck in High-Stakes Recruitment Showdown

The Georgia Bulldogs are bracing for changes at quarterback, with head coach Kirby Smart potentially adding a seasoned player to next season’s competition. Starting quarterback Carson Beck has left the team, transferring to the Miami Hurricanes via the college football transfer portal.

Beck’s decision was unexpected, as he had earlier declared his intention to enter the 2025 NFL Draft. Instead, he now joins a Miami team that could challenge Georgia as one of the top title contenders heading into the 2025 season.

Former highly regarded quarterback Jaden Rashada is preparing to enter the transfer portal, adding intrigue to Georgia’s search for a long-term QB1. While Gunner Stockton could emerge as the Bulldogs’ permanent solution, bolstering the roster with added competition this offseason would be a prudent move.

Georgia’s quarterback depth already includes Ryan Puglisi and four-star 2025 recruit Ryan Montgomery. However, the Bulldogs now find themselves in a high-stakes transfer portal showdown with SEC rival Florida Gators for another sought-after quarterback.According to Pete Nakos of On3.com, both Florida and Georgia have reached out to Buffalo Bulls quarterback C.J. Ogbonna, signaling a potential recruiting battle between the SEC rivals for the transfer signal-caller.

“Florida and Georgia have been in contact with a transfer quarterback, On3 has learned,” Pete Nakos reported Monday. “Buffalo quarterback C.J. Ogbonna has drawn interest from both the Gators and Bulldogs since entering the transfer portal last week, according to his agent Bryan Miller.

“The Bulls’ starting quarterback recorded 2,381 passing yards and 19 touchdowns this season, while also rushing for 343 yards and eight scores. A former transfer from Southeast Missouri State, Ogbonna has amassed 3,995 career passing yards, 32 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions.”

If the Bulldogs secure C.J. Ogbonna, he wouldn’t be guaranteed the starting quarterback role but would bring valuable competition to the position. Ogbonna hails from Wheeler High School in Marietta, Ga., located just a short drive from Athens.

In the 2024 season at Buffalo, Ogbonna threw for 2,381 yards, 19 touchdowns, and five interceptions, completing 56.5% of his passes. A dual-threat quarterback, he also added 343 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on the ground, showcasing his versatility and playmaking ability.
