BREAKINGNEWS:Another quarterback option for the Miami Hurricanes has officially become available.

It’s not certain whether the NCAA has definitively approved Tagovailoa for an additional year of eligibility, as the decision might still be pending after he submitted a waiver. Nevertheless, making the move to enter the portal marks a significant progression for him, potentially paving the way for an extra playing season. Tagovailoa, who played for the Maryland Terrapins for four years, showcased an impressive performance in 2023 by leading the Big 10 conference with 3,377 passing yards. In the last season, he threw 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. His impressive career statistics include being the all-time passing leader for Maryland with 11,256 passing yards and 76 touchdowns.

In recent weeks, there have been reports suggesting that Taulia Tagovailoa is keen on joining the Miami Hurricanes, a move that would bring him closer to his older brother, Tua, currently in his fourth season with the Miami Dolphins. If Taulia decides to make this move, it could offer the Hurricanes a seasoned quarterback, adding valuable experience to what is currently a relatively young quarterback group. Jacurri Brown, entering his third season, stands out as the most experienced quarterback on Miami’s roster.

Miami has predominantly focused on graduate transfers as their quarterback targets, and Taulia Tagovailoa aligns with this preference. The Hurricanes’ ideal scenario involves nurturing their young quarterbacks for an additional season, allowing them to develop, while an upperclassman, potentially someone like Taulia, takes charge of the offense in 2024. This strategy aims to strike a balance between player development and immediate on-field impact by bringing in an experienced player to guide the team.
