Contract details for new Oregon State football assistants Ray Pickering, Will Heck

Oregon State football recently hired Ray Pickering and Will Heck as assistant coaches, each receiving two-year contracts valued at $250,000 per season. Pickering will coach the running backs, while Heck will oversee the tight ends, filling the roles left by Thomas Ford and Jon Boyer.Pickering, who previously coached running backs at Buffalo, has significantly increased his salary from $87,200 in 2024. Heck served as an offensive analyst for Oregon State last season before his promotion.

Pickering and Heck are contracted through the conclusion of the 2026 football season. Their agreements include standard additional compensation for OSU assistant coaches, such as a $10,000 bonus if the Beavers qualify for a bowl game, a car, tickets to athletic events, and a membership to the Corvallis Country Club.According to athletic director Scott Barnes, Oregon State has allocated a salary pool of $4.85 million for assistant coaches in the 2025 season. This amount is consistent with what was available in 2024, despite the university spending $4.42 million on salaries last year.
