Currently, Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, seems to be retaining Mike McCarthy as the head coach, but he is also open to considering a replacement in the future. While acknowledging the upcoming game against the Detroit Lions and their coach Dan Campbell, Jones drew a parallel between Campbell and a Dallas legend, Jason Witten.
Jones expressed his admiration for Campbell’s football-appropriate approach to the game, likening him to Witten. However, Jones clarified that any decisions regarding the head coaching position, including a potential extension or change, would be addressed in the offseason, emphasizing that such matters are not dealt with until the conclusion of the season.
The possibility of postseason involvement by the Cowboys could alter the timing of these discussions. Meanwhile, Witten, who recently led Liberty Christian High School to victory in the TAPPS Division II state championship, has already demonstrated his coaching capabilities. Notably, he took on this coaching role shortly after retiring from the NFL following a remarkable 17-season career, with 16 of those seasons spent with the Cowboys.
