Yaites left Baton Rouge after one season and is now headed to the West coast to continue his career. The LSU football staff has been diligently working during the NCAA Transfer Portal window, with roster changes happening over the past two weeks. Now, with seven departures, players are revealing their transfer destinations, including former Tiger defensive back Ryan Yaites, who will play for the University of California, Berkeley Golden Bears in the 2024 season.
Yaites, a 2023 LSU signee, played in all 13 games for the Bayou Bengals as a backup safety and on special teams, recording 16 tackles and a pass breakup as a true freshman. He showcased his skills across various positions in the defensive backfield during spring, and now he aims to make an immediate impact for the Cal Golden Bears.
Alongside Yaites, edge rusher Jaxon Howard has also announced his transfer destination, opting to return home to play for the Minnesota Gophers after his first year at LSU.
The LSU program is actively seeking reinforcements in the Transfer Portal, particularly for the defensive line, where there’s a shortage of interior linemen. Head Coach Brian Kelly and his team are aggressively pursuing prospects in the free agent market to bolster the team.
