At the 2024 NFL Draft, Verse was chosen by the Rams as the 16th overall pick in the first round, while Benson went to the Cardinals in the third round as the 66th pick.
Florida State had a strong season last year, finishing 13-1 overall and 8-0 in the ACC, and playing in the 2023 Capital One Orange Bowl. Despite their success, they narrowly missed out on a College Football Playoff spot.
Benson and Verse have been teammates at FSU for the past two seasons. Benson spent his first two years at Oregon before transferring, accumulating 1,895 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns in 26 games. Verse began his college career at Albany before transferring, recording 70 tackles, 13 sacks, and three defended passes in 26 games.

Even though they haven’t played in the NFL yet, Benson and Verse are already hyped for their rivalry. During an interview on “Burns and Gambo” on Arizona Sports radio, Gambadoro asked Benson about facing Verse, who joined the call unexpectedly. They exchanged playful banter, with Verse vowing to hit Benson hard, and Benson expressing confidence in his ability to outmaneuver Verse. Despite the friendly trash talk, both players are eager to face off on the field.
Their banter has already created excitement for their future matchup, which should be eagerly anticipated by football fans.
