Another major addition for Kalen DeBoer’s inaugural class.
Concerns about Alabama’s new coaching staff’s ability to recruit in the south have been put to rest, but Kalen DeBoer and his team continue to demonstrate their prowess on the recruiting trail. Just a day after securing 5-star WR Caleb Cunningham, they also nabbed 5-star OT Ty Haywood from Denton, TX.
Haywood, originally from Mississippi before relocating to Texas, is ranked as the 2nd best tackle prospect in his class. According to a scouting report from 247 Sports, he is an exciting prospect:

“Haywood combines sturdiness with long arms, making him an imposing presence on the field with significant potential for growth. He boasts impressive arm and wingspan measurements and improved greatly during his junior season, particularly in terms of snap quickness and explosiveness. He is a high-level mover for a tackle, with quick feet and hands, and excellent anchoring ability. His active feet enhance his drive-blocking and block-finishing skills. With a strong multi-sport background, including a notable 58-6 shot put throw early in his junior track and field season, Haywood’s hand placement is generally good, though he can better utilize his length with more consistent extension. While he occasionally plays high, he is largely aware of leverage and involves his hips well. As a young OT, he excels in most areas, offering a high-floor competency with long-term developmental potential thanks to his physical tools and athleticism. He projects as a future high-major multi-year starter with the potential to become a sought-after NFL Draft candidate.”
