‘HUGE BOOST’ Suns’ Rival Targeting All-Star Forward

**The Warriors are being linked to Lauri Markkanen – what would it mean for the Suns?**

PHOENIX — The Phoenix Suns could soon be facing another star player more frequently this season.

The Golden State Warriors have reportedly been heavily involved in the pursuit of Utah Jazz star F Lauri Markkanen, with Shams Charania of The Athletic confirming the serious interest.

“The Golden State Warriors have been the most engaged team for Markkanen in recent weeks, as league sources tell The Athletic they have discussed a proposal involving Moses Moody, multiple first-round picks, multiple pick swaps, and multiple second-round picks,” Charania reported.

“However, the Jazz have demanded a substantial amount of young talent and assets from the Warriors, including Moody, Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski, and additional picks, which has been a deal-breaker for Golden State so far,” according to league sources.

Golden State is trying to make the most of Steph Curry’s remaining prime years, but Utah’s top executive Danny Ainge has a reputation for extracting maximum value in trades, potentially deterring teams from negotiating.

What would it mean for the Suns if the Warriors made the trade?

NBA Rumors: Details Of Potential Warriors Trade For Lauri Markkanen

Markkanen is an exceptional player and would fit well alongside Curry, but the Warriors would be giving up a significant portion of their future for the trade. This move likely wouldn’t elevate the Warriors into the top tier of the Western Conference or surpass the Suns.

Although facing a fully spaced-out Warriors’ offense four times a season would be challenging, adding Markkanen may not be enough to bridge the current gap between the two teams, despite efforts to improve depth.

Additionally, the long-term team-building would suffer, with Trayce Jackson-Davis being the only prospect not included in the trade proposal.

While it’s unlikely the Warriors would agree to such a steep price, it’s intriguing to consider the potential impact this trade could have on the Suns both now and in the future.
