Penn State football has secured a key addition to its 2026 recruiting class with the commitment of four-star quarterback Troy Huhn. Announced on Tuesday morning, Huhn, who hails from California and plays for Mission Hills High School in San Marcos, becomes the first quarterback and the second overall recruit to join the class, following running back Messiah Mickens from Harrisburg.
Ranked as the No. 10 quarterback nationally and the No. 13 player in California by the 247Sports Composite, Huhn’s stock is on the rise. According to 247Sports national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins, Huhn possesses one of the highest ceilings in his class, with an impressive ability to make precise throws into tight coverage. While there’s room for athletic improvement, his trajectory as a player is trending upward, making him one of the most sought-after recruits in the 2026 class.
Huhn chose Penn State over several other top programs, including Florida State, Notre Dame, and Michigan. His commitment continues a strong recruiting surge for the Nittany Lions, especially in the 2025 class. Over the past two weeks, Penn State has secured multiple commitments, most notably from four-star prospects Daryus Dixson, Jahmir Joseph, and Max Granville. Despite losing a few recruits to other schools, Penn State now ranks No. 9 nationally and second in the Big Ten, behind only Ohio State, in the 247Sports Composite team rankings for 2025.
